As you create assets and materials for your department, you may run into phrases you’ve never heard before. The following list can help you navigate the more technical aspects of the design world.
A final printed product that has color going all the way to the edges.
A type of printing finish that reflects light and is shiny.
A 6-digit color code beginning with ” # “.
A type of printing finish that does not reflect light and is not shiny.
A file that opens in the program it was originally created in (ex: A native Adobe Illustrator file).
A file that has been saved out of Adobe InDesign or Adobe Illustrator. Packaged files are created for archiving purposes or for sending to vendors.
A specially mixed color used to ensure accurate and consistent printing colors. These color codes start with “PMS”.
A type of printing finish that is matte and feels “velvety” to the touch.
Zipped files are a way of compressing a file or files for improved ease of sending or archiving.
